Our menu is built on a genuine love of dumplings and flavors from Asian cuisines. The concept is relaxed, but comforting and focused on the precise flavors of Asian cooking.
The restaurant is divided into two parts; downstairs is where we serve our tasting menu, while we serve our à la carte menu upstairs, where you will be able to pick and choose amongst a selection of our best dumplings.
The menu focuses on dumplings from all over Asia, as well other tasty treats. We change our menu as we go and as good produce knocks on the door. Every now and then our famous «left over» ramen makes an appearance.

On Saturdays we open as early as 14 pm so we can welcome you for lunch.

About us
The Golden Chimp can be found where Grønland and Tøyen meet, more specifically on the corner of Heimdalsgata and Tøyengata. Since opening in 2017, TGC has consolidated its position as one of Oslo`s best dumpling restaurants.
TGC is divided into 2 sections, the warm lower floor with a set menu, or our asiakitch inspired 1st floor where you can choose freely from our a la carte menu.
The Golden Chimp plays with Asian traditions and is constantly working on further developing its dumplings favorites while finding new classics such as king crab dumplings, Xian long bo and Char sui dumplings. This is a place where you experience Japanese and Chinese culture through food, drink, music and atmosphere. The concept is relaxed and sinful, while the menu retains the pure Asian flavors.
The interior draws on references from restaurants around the world where it plays with clichés, creeping tigers, hidden drag - aesthetics, waterfalls, artificial and real plants everywhere. A separated Asian oasis in Heimdalsgata 37 on Tøyen.

When you enter you meet the atmosphere of a Japanese izakaya, an Asian bar. Here you can sit down and order different dishes from our bar menu, or just have a quick beer while you wait for your friends. When you round the corner from the bar you can glimpse a golden staircase that leads you down to the restaurant in the basement, where we serve our set menu
Beverages
Our beverage list is built up around the natural. This means we serve freshly brewed beers, natural wines from Europe and traditional beverages from Japan. You will find a broad selection of sake and wine, as well as fresh and unpretentious beers to quench your thirst.
Parties
Dining as a group at The Golden Chimp, you will be able to sit down at a fully decked community table downstairs or in a more relaxed setting upstairs. We tailor it to your needs.
